# Tags

> Tags help you categorize and group your goals. They’re completely optional—use them only if you want better organization.

<Info>
  **Note:** In an upcoming update, you’ll also be able to add tags to **Backlog tasks**.
</Info>

## Managing Tags

All tag-related actions happen in:

**Progress → Tags (bottom area)**

From here, you can:

* Create new tags
* Edit an existing tag’s name, color, or icon
* Delete tags (applies everywhere)

## Creating a Tag

1. Go to **Progress → Tags**
2. Click **Add Tag**
3. Enter a **tag name**
4. Press **Enter** to confirm

Once created:

* You’ll see a **“Tag created”** toast at the top
* The tag is saved to the database
* The tag becomes available on the **Today** page

## Customizing a Tag

After creating a tag, you can modify it anytime:

* **Change name**: Edit the text directly
* **Change color**: Use the color picker
* **Change icon**: Upload a custom icon

### Icon Requirements

* Icons **must be SVG files**
* `.png`, `.jpg`, or other formats are **not supported**
* This ensures all tags stay consistent in **size, quality, and visual style**

All customization happens in the **Progress → Tags** section.

## Deleting a Tag

To delete a tag:

* Remove the **entire tag name using Backspace**

What happens next:

* The tag is permanently deleted
* The change applies to **all related goals**
* This includes **past goals** as well

## Adding a Tag to a Goal (Today Page)

Once a tag is created, you can assign it to goals.

1. Go to the **Today** page
2. Open a goal’s options
3. Select **Add Tag**
4. A list of available tags appears **below the goal**
5. Click on a tag to apply it

<Warning>
  ### Important: Tag Selection Is Mandatory

  > **Simply opening “Add Tag” does NOT apply a tag.**
  >
  > You must **explicitly select a tag from the list** for it to be added to the goal.
  >
  > Even if **only one tag exists**, selection is still required.
  >
  > This selection confirms that you intentionally assigned the tag to the goal.

  If you don’t select a tag, **nothing will be applied**.
</Warning>

## Removing a Tag from a Goal

To remove a tag from a specific goal:

1. Open the goal options
2. Choose **Delete Tag**
3. The tag is removed from that goal only

You can then:

* Re-add the same tag
* Or assign a different one
